Welcome to AWC Athens

Animal Wellness Center of Athens (AWC Athens) is veterinary, small animal practice conveniently located just off Atlanta Highway in Athens, GA.  The co-founders and veterinarians for the practice, Dr. Angela Dodd and Dr. Lisa Stacy, are both graduates of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.  The doctors have spent more than a decade in Athens dedicating their lives to helping animals live the long, happy and healthy lives that they deserve.

Drs. Dodd and Stacy are fully committed to enhancing their patients’ lives through excellence in preventive medicine, diagnostics, laser surgery, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, advanced dentistry, internal medicine, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, emergency treatment, digital radiography, and senior pet care. AWC of Athens offers animal behavioral counseling and an extensive supply of traditional and holistic medications, supplements, and products to enhance the care and well being of companion animals. In addition to exemplary medical and behavioral services, AWC will provide boarding in warm, comfortable cages with indoor runs for dogs and spacious condos for boarding cats and certain exotic species. Both doctors are also certified by the Georgia Dept. of Agriculture to write health certificates for patients to travel within the US and abroad.

Meet Dr. Angela Dodd

Dr. Angela Dodd Veterinarian for AWC Athens GA

An Athens, GA native, Angela Dodd, DVM and owner, provides Veterinary Care for companion animals, as well as Wellness Services including Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.  Dr. Dodd’s years of experience and love of animals shows through as she treats every animal under her care as if they were her own. Dr. Dodd enjoyed working with Dr. Stacy so much that they founded Animal Wellness Center of Athens in 2015.

Meet Dr. Lisa Stacy

Dr. Lisa Stacy Veterinarian for AWC Athens GALisa Stacy, DVM and owner, met Dr. Dodd at the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine, and they have been working together for more than a decade. Dr. Stacy provides Veterinary Care for patients with an emphasis on general surgery. Dr. Stacy’s years of experience with small animal veterinary medicine gives her clients the confidence and assurance of knowing their pets are in experienced, loving hands.

Angela Dodd, DVM and Lisa Stacy, DVM both hold current licenses to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Georgia and are members in good standing of the AVMA and GVMA.

Meet Rachel Lee Stadler

Rachel Lee Stadler AWC Athens
Rachel moved to Athens from Virginia in 2010 with her horse and the ambition to attend University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine to become a large animal veterinarian. Currently she is completing prerequisites for vet school at UGA. When she’s not in class or at work she’s usually at the barn or out with friends. Rachel loves and treats every animal she comes in contact with as if they were her own. She has been working with Dr. Dodd and Dr. Stacy since 2014.

Meet Laurè Sweet, RVT

AWC Athens Laure Sweet
Laurè was born and raised in Georgia, spending most of her life in the small town of Maysville. She graduated from Athens Technical College in 2009 with an Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology. Laurè enjoys spending time with family and friends in her free time. She is owned by a dog, Mushu, and a cat, Frog. She finds joy and happiness in helping animals that cannot help themselves. Working alongside Dr. Dodd and Dr. Stacy since 2009, she is a true asset to the AWC team.

Meet Alisha Nichole Smith

AWC Athens Staff Alisha Nicole Smith
Alisha moved from New York to Georgia when she was four. She was born in Charleston, while her father was in the navy. She’s always had an admiration for animals since growing up on her grandparents’ farm. With her high school sweetheart, Justin Lord, she has two sons, Lucas and Alexzander, and another little boy on the way. They have a dog, Darling, two cats, Huckleberry and Clementine, two turtles, Turtle Soup and Star, and a beta fish named Bubble. Alisha has worked with Dr. Dodd and Dr. Stacy since 2007, and she feels blessed to be part of the AWC Family!

Jamie Whitmire

Jamie moved to Georgia from Southern California 3 years ago to pursue her dream of becoming a large animal veterinarian.  Jamie has a Bachelor’s degree from UGA in Animal Science.  In her free time she enjoys being outdoors, at the lake, or hiking. Jamie has a cat named Zoey and a snake named Ozz. Photo coming soon!

Bri Mauldin

Bri is a Georgia Peach!  You will never see her without a smile.  She grew up in Georgia and has lived in Athens since she was in third grade.  She is currently attending Athens Technical College and plans to become a registered veterinary technician.  Bri absolutely loves her furry babies….and yours.  She is proud Momma of a Pitty mix, Mya and a Chihuahua named Tux. She will take care of your furry babies just like she takes care of hers! Photo coming soon!
